Chapter Seven

Michael rolled over and hit the alarm. Morning sunshine trickled across the empty bed beside him. What about showering last night had freaked Cobey? Everything had gone well on the couch, but when Cobey’s clothes had come off and they’d stepped into the shower, he’d gotten that oh-my-God-what-did-I-just-do look. After a hurried rinse, Cobey had mumbled something about a project, hopped out, and speed-dressed. No hand job. Michael had seen him to the door clad in a towel and a cloud of What did I do? Or didn’t do? Or say?

Virgins. Hell. Michael swung out of bed and rubbed his hands over his stubble. In the bathroom he stepped inside the shower and turned the tap. Warm water poured over him. Ordinary as could be—white tile, an alcove holding bottles of shampoo and body wash, a bath mitt.

Last night Cobey had shown chops when it came to going down on a guy. Michael hadn’t experienced anything that good for quite a while. Knowing it was Cobey’s first…incredible. Hot. Cobey paced the kitchen. Earlier, it had seemed like a good idea to have Michael over to talk, but now, not so much. Meeting after dinner had an implied intimacy. Did Michael think that “talk” meant “sex?” At this point Cobey wasn’t sure.

Last night had been great until he’d seen what Michael had stowed in the shower. At the time, Cobey had assumed it was for him, but after the panic dissipated he’d recognized Michael had a sex life outside their agreement. Getting attached would be a mistake.

Three knocks on the door sent Cobey’s heart flying and he jumped to answer.
